Have yourself a merry Kentish Christmas

What's that we hear...sleigh bells ringing? Inky's cowbell clanging? The year is drawing to a close and you’re left with only one more chance to catch Kentish Fire before 2012. Don’t miss out, we want to rock your little Christmas stockings off...!

The indie-disco revolution is coming...

Last 2011 gig! 10th December @ Cargo
Yes that's right we're playing Cargo, a legendary venue under the arch in Old Street – and one of the hottest places to go out in London. We'll be on stage nice and early at 8pm, leaving you (and us!) loads of time to enjoy the rest of the evening. There'll be a set from the band In Search Of, who sound pretty awesome with their "eclectic mix of Rock, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz", and for those in the party mood the club night Sound Advice goes on till 3am. Get onto our £6 guestlist (door price £8) by clicking "attending" at our Facebook event.

The Fresh Meat crew kickin' back to the sounds of the Fire

If you didn't hear, our song So Unpredictable was featured on Channel 4 sitcom Fresh Meat (from the writers of Peep Show and starring Joe Thomas – the "normal one" – from The Inbetweeners). OK OK...so the hard of hearing might have missed it but DAMMIT we were on there! Check it out for yourselves via 4oD (episode 4). With any luck this will just be the start of a number of our tunes making it onto the little screen...and beyond!

KF rocking the house at Café de Paris

We also played an amazing star studded event for the Terrence Higgins Trust last month. The Supper Club takes place every year to raise money for those living with AIDS – and we were honoured to play the after party at Café de Paris in Leicester Square. In previous years The Correspondents and Alphabeat had filled this midnight slot, so we were amped to play it. In celebrity attendance this time around were Graham Norton (who commended us on our performance), Cilla Black, Rory Bremner and Ronni Ancona...amongst others. Oh the glamour!!

Our new BFFs Graham and Cilla

All in all it's been a great 2011. We want to thank all you guys for coming to our gigs and checking out our music, the bloggers for giving us (great!) reviews, the DJs for playing us on their radio shows...and generally everyone for being AWESOME.

Hope to see you at Cargo – roll on 2012!

The Revolution Will Be Funkified

Latest headlines from the Kentish front!!!

Autumn gig dates announced

Stand up and be counted comrades. Face the music and dance! Three more London gig dates have been declared, your attendance shall not go unrewarded...

Thursday 13th October - Proud Camden (tonight!)

We’re headlining the main stage at the exceptionally cool Proud Galleries. Fairy light-drenched stables, a massive band room, burlesque dining hall and chilled-out barbecue terrace – Proud is undoubtedly the place to go in Camden. Even better, we’re playing their “cutting-edge, controversial and entirely hedonistic night” dubbed “Bad Sex”. Get on our free guest list by clicking “attending” here. £2 beers available from 9-10pm, catch us on stage at around 10.15pm.

Friday 28th October - The Wheelbarrow, Camden
This ace little venue on Camden High Street has been on our must-play list for ages. It’s atmospheric with good beer and owners who know how to throw a great party. What else do you need? Balance this equation: free entry + great venue + not a school night = GOOD TIMES. Come get some!

Saturday 10th December - Cargo, Shoreditch

We can’t believe it but we’re going to be playing Cargo, what a legendary venue. More details to come but save the date – this is one gig you won’t want to miss.

New song “Born in Xixax”

You might have caught it live, but now it’s available online for your personal listening pleasure! This pumping anthem is our interpretation of the classic track by 1980’s German bizarro-punk songstress Nina Hagen. Kudos to Nina – anyone who can call their album “Nunsexmonkrock” is a legend in our books.

Live videos aplenty...

Big love to each and every one of you who comes to see us play – you’re what makes the nights as great as they are. It’s particularly AWESOME though when you film us, you help us spread the Kentish Fire word! Thanks to Brian Smith for filming “In Our Band” at out gig at The Empowering Church. Watch for Inky’s “speed-up-slow-down running man” move – how does he do it?!?

And thanks to Chris from Musicborn for an awesome video of “Fresh Out of Luck”:

Cheeky Burlesque and Festival Frolics

Friends, comrades, countrymen – lend us your ears! We bring you more news from the Kentish front...

It seems the Kentish Fire crew are amongst the lucky few who have managed to avoid our phones being hacked over the past few months. But if Murdoch and all those cheeky chaps had been listening in, this is what they would have heard us talking about...all the waackaaad gigs we have coming up! Here's what's in store:

Sunday 24th July – Madame Jojo's, Soho

This Sunday we're playing again at the Greatest Show in the Universe, a veritable smorgasbord of music, comedy and burlesque. Having appeared in this show before, we can promise it's a scandalously entertaining evening – not least due to the ever alluring Queen B's of cabaret, the fabulous Betsie BonBon and gorgeous Betsy Rose. Go here for a secret ticket link and get a whopping 70% off the door price! http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=458468&interface=pr1v8t3

Friday 29th July – Nozstock, Herefordshire

Festival time again! We're proud to say we'll be appearing at Nozstock, one of the Sunday Times' top 100 festivals of 2011. If you fancy a last-minute trip to the West Country, weekend tickets are still available at a bargainous £75. With a great slot on the Bandstand stage at 10pm, Friday night, good times are gonna roll fo' shizzle...

Friday 19th August – Empowering Church, Hackney

We can’t express enough how AWESOME this night is going to be. Let's set the scene: cheap entry to a packed warehouse party with low-cost booze and a festival atmosphere. Light-up palm trees, general loose living and 4 of the best unsigned bands in London (including yours truly...*ahem*) rocking the joint until the wee hours of the morning. It will be epic and not to be missed! More details to follow, check our Facebook for updates...

Your Alternative Glasto

Greetings comrades! Some of you will be at Glastonbury soon (lucky soaking wet bastards), but if you’re hanging round London-town there's much happening here on the Kentish front.

Sunday 19th June – Madame Jojos, 8pm
TOMORROW night at this legendary Soho venue we play house band for what is rightfully called “The Greatest Show in the Universe”. It's a comedy, burlesque and music spectacular all rolled into one, and what a mighty fine mix it makes! With sexy burlesque dancers joining us on stage, we'll personally be whipping out...(no, not that!)...a surprise cover, not to be missed. And since we know people in the know, here's a link to get tickets for just £6 (normal door price £20). Never say we don’t treat you well...

Thursday 23rd June – The Lexington, 8pm
In just under a week we’re supporting the ace NOT SQUARES at The Lexington on Pentonville Road (between Kings X and Angel). A lot of hype surrounding these guys at the moment, check out this rocking video to see why! Tickets are £5 on the door, or in advance.

Saturday 16th July – Silfest 2011
Imagine DJs spinning out in a 19th century manor house, camping, cooked breakfasts, BBQs, entertainments on a Traditional Fete theme. Sound like heaven? It’s the 1-day mini-festival Silfest (near Windsor) and we’re on the bill! Advance tickets are a bargainous £14.

That’s all for now folks, hope to see you there.

Madame Jojos Easter Gig (a 'chicky' little number...)

What better way to celebrate the holy festival of Easter than with 'a night of wild decadence, live music, and saucy strip tease'. Isn't that how they celebrated it in Biblical times anyway...?

Yes that's right, next Sunday 24th April Kentish Fire will be taking part in the 'Greatest Show in the Universe', a cabaret event at the fabulous venue Madame Jojos in Soho.

And since it's a bank holiday the next day, there's plenty of time for some late night debauchery with no fear of an early morning looming!

So after you've added the finishing touches to your shiny Easter bonnets and finished munching on your chocolate bunnies, come down and enjoy a night of live music, comedy and cheeky burlesque with the Fire.

Check out this secret link for exclusive half-price (£6) tickets (the usual online advance price is £12 and tickets on the door will be £20!) - hope to see you there.

Free Single Download

Dear Friends of the Fire

We set aside some time this year to finish off the recording and mixing some of our songs, and I'm very pleased to announce that we're making some pretty good progress! You can now download our first single Don't Bore Us for FREE at download.kentishfire.co.uk. This 3-song package includes Don't Bore Us and two remixes of the track by some very talented DJs.

We've held back on releasing our tracks into the wider world for so long because we wanted to get them to a place that we could be proud of, where they sounded as good as we could possibly make them. After recording drums recently with Guido at Hakisac Studios (link), we had the final piece of the puzzle. Now we can't wait to put out all of our stuff.

So if we work our butts off with a bit of luck we'll have a mini-album of 8 songs ready for you by Christmas. We plan to make them all available for FREE DOWNLOAD at download.kentishfire.co.uk, and soon thereafter on Spotify etc.

In addition, we now have anthemic live favourite In Our Band up on the MySpace (link) and Facebook (link) players - shout along to to your heart's content!
