Free Single Download

Dear Friends of the Fire

We set aside some time this year to finish off the recording and mixing some of our songs, and I'm very pleased to announce that we're making some pretty good progress! You can now download our first single Don't Bore Us for FREE at download.kentishfire.co.uk. This 3-song package includes Don't Bore Us and two remixes of the track by some very talented DJs.

We've held back on releasing our tracks into the wider world for so long because we wanted to get them to a place that we could be proud of, where they sounded as good as we could possibly make them. After recording drums recently with Guido at Hakisac Studios (link), we had the final piece of the puzzle. Now we can't wait to put out all of our stuff.

So if we work our butts off with a bit of luck we'll have a mini-album of 8 songs ready for you by Christmas. We plan to make them all available for FREE DOWNLOAD at download.kentishfire.co.uk, and soon thereafter on Spotify etc.

In addition, we now have anthemic live favourite In Our Band up on the MySpace (link) and Facebook (link) players - shout along to to your heart's content!

Kentish Fire support Hot Chip DJ set! Remember, remember the sixth of November...

Greetings from the flaming-hot land of Kentish Fire!

Steady yourself for some big news. We're very excited to announce that on 6th November 2010 Kentish Fire will be supporting a Hot Chip DJ set! This awesome gig will be taking place at Jamm in Brixton – a venue which has been hosting some of the best DJ sets recently, from Basement Jaxx to The Foals, Franz Ferdinand, The Maccabees and Groove Armada. Read on for more details of what is shaping up to be another epic night, and to find out how to get your hands on some of those free goodies which we've been promising you!

Hot Chip are proving that they're hotter than ever. They're true electropop royalty and their recent live band tour has been getting spanking good reviews ('Hot Chip want to be your new best friends forever, and they’re not taking no for an answer' NME, March 2010). But it's not just full-band sets that the group are known for. They're also put on a pedestal for their sizzling DJ skills and have released several DJ mix albums in addition to their band albums, including 'A Bugged Out Mix by Hot Chip' in 2009. They have a reputation for setting the dance floor alight. At Jamm on 6th November, Kentish Fire – along with a select number of other support live acts and DJs – will be right there with them, enjoying the party. Catch us on stage at around 9pm!

As this looks to be such a great event it will likely be sold out on the night, so we'd recommend buying tickets in advance. We're selling them directly from www.kentishfire.co.uk/tickets – do please get them from us to show your support for the Fire! As a thank you, Kentish Fire ticket holders will get a goody bag on the door that contains some seriously exclusive Kentish Fire merch! These are limited, so get in there a.s.a.p. to not be disappointed.

And as if that wasn't enough, to get you in the swing of things for the gig we've just released our first single for free download. Please go to download.kentishfire.co.uk to find the track DON'T BORE US, along with two remixes from two very talented DJs. These are just the first of many tunes that we plan to giveaway ABSOLUTELY FREE – that's right, for nada, nil, niete, zero, zilch. More will be released around Christmas time!

And it just doesn’t stop: we've also uploaded a new song onto Kentish Fire players across the web, including our Mypsace page. Yes it's the one you've all been waiting for – the anthemic live favourite IN OUR BAND. Shout along to your heart’s content!

Lastly, many thanks to Hakisac Studios for recording the drum tracks for our songs. They're a great new studio based in Old Street, so please check them out if you're in need of any kind of audio recording, mixing or mastering: www.hakisacstudios.com.

That’s all for now folks – stop, drop and roll!

Fresh Tunes and Hot Chip

Hey all you Kentish Fire-y blog followers!

There's so much going on at the moment...here's a little update. In the last month we've recorded a music video (for So Unpredictable), recorded drums for 8 of our songs, rocked the Camden Barfly for the second time and got ourselves a gig supporting a Hot Chip DJ Set.

As a result you'll soon be hearing freshened up versions of all of our songs on our MySpace, Facebook and elsewhere! The tunes sound brand new with proper drums (current song versions feature sampled beats/drum loops only) and we're itching to share them with you all. With these new additions will come the long awaited studio versions of Born in Xixax and live-favourite In Our Band as an added bonus. We're weeks away from uploading so watch this space!

Hopefully the finished music video will arrive in time for Christmas...but if you can't wait until then to see a bit of us, well, grab a ticket for our 6th November gig at Jamm (at http://www.kentishfire.co.uk/tickets). We'll be rocking the live evening stage along with some other fantastic bands, and Hot Chip will be DJ'ing away until the early hours. It's shaping up to be one beast of an epic night.

Gigs and new tunes!

Dear Friends of the Fire

All is good and lush here in the Kentish Fire garden. With new drummer-recruit and general italian stallion Guido the band played a couple of very cool London gigs recently, at the Camden Barfly (photos) and just a few days later at Cafe 1001. Big big big thanks to all who attended, and I hope you had as much fun watching us as we did playing. If you missed out however, no fear. We are playing again soon, first at the Wilmington Arms on the 3rd September, then a second appearance at the Camden Barfly on the 18th September. Neither of these are school nights so there is no excuse not to come down and get funky!

In case it changes before you read it, here's an interesting little excerpt from the TicketWeb site regarding our upcoming Barfly appearance - nice!

"THE KENTISH FIRE
new camden fire starters pop dance rock in the mould of LCD soundsystem stop start rhythms played by proficient musicians and based on previous experience tighter than the proverbial ducks derriere, infectious and appealing they have been together only 6 months but have been gigging proficiently and due some big noise soon
"

If you just simply cannot wait until then, you can check us out live at the Barfly on the Kentish Fire YouTube Channel. Here you will find us playing that nearly ready new song I mentioned before - our cover of Nina Hagen's 'Born in Xixax'. To wet your tastebuds further, we've a second new song on the horizon also. This time an original, a blasting riot of a ditty called 'In Our Band', penned in just a couple of sessions. We're putting the finishing touches to the recorded version, but are already playing it live so get down to see us!

Famous last words I know, but these two songs really should be up on our MySpace soon. We're working on a whole bunch of stuff behind the scenes all the time, bear with us!

Stop, drop 'n' roll!
